Maybach: The Ultimate in Luxury

Maybach is a manufacturer that has been building vehicles for a long time. In fact, even current models remain variants of the original SW 38, Zeppelin DS 7 and Zeppelin DS 8. The customer had a choice of many variations of the base design, and there are still four models that are still in existence many decades later.

Maybach Zeppelin DS 8 Cabriolet

The Zeppelin DS 8 began as a Type 12 when it was marketed in the early part of 1929. The vehicle included side sections an owner could lower if they needed to convert it to a parade vehicle. Several years later (1933) it was redesigned as a Zeppelin DS 8 and included a 200 horsepower engine. Strangely as late as the 1970s this model worked as a luxury taxi and transported some very influential people including President Heuss of Germany and Chancellor Kiesinger. More people are familiar with this model than any of the other still surviving older models. It comes with a 12-volt engine with displacement of 7922 cc and a double overdrive transmission. Its fastest speed is 150 km/h (93 mph) and has a wheelbase of 3.5 metres.
In 1932 Maybach introduced a new model of the DS 8, but after it ran for some years as a hotel vehicle it became lost in the clouds until a Maybach lover located it in 1959 and focused on restoring it. It became an exhibit at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart in 1959. This model includes a great deal of unique equipment such as an automatic jack on every one of the vehicle's wheels and an engine-powered compressor for tyre inflation. It has a 12-volt engine with displacement of 7922 cc and operates on 200 horsepower at 3200 rpm. The transmission is double overdrive, and the fastest vehicle speed ranges between 140-170 km/h (87-106 mph) depending on the vehicle's body. The wheelbase measures 3.35 metres.

Maybach 62 Zeppelin and Maybach 57S

Both the Maybach 57 and the Maybach 62 Zeppelin are vehicles that stand for pure elegance and high quality performance. This particular model is in a completely different class from any of the other Maybach's and is the ultimate in beauty, luxury and performance. Designers used the 57 S and the 62 S as the basis for the 62 Zeppelin. It has a 12-volt engine with biturbo power and operates at 631 horsepower with a torque that has the capacity to reach 738 lb/ft.
Material and craftsmanship are part of the 62 Zeppelin package. The interior is of fine leather and exotic wood. Customers have the option to choose either one colour or a two-tone combination for the outside of the vehicle. There are many varieties of factory colours, so customers have many colours from which they can choose to personalize their Maybach 62 Zeppelin. Thanks to acoustic engineers both driver and passengers will find their ride free of almost all noise other than the noises they create.

Brakes and Handling

The Maybach does not have the mechanical/hydraulic braking system with which most of us are familiar. Instead it comes equipped with an electrohydraulic system called Sensotronic Brake Control. The system derives power from two centrally controlled units. This allows the braking system to respond quickly to whatever driving situation occurs in order to accommodate the needs of the driver. This system also helps enhance the way other safety enhancing systems work.

Climate Control

Like every other Maybach, the Maybach 62 comes equipped with a climate control system for the front and another for the back. The owner or driver can program these systems to operate independently of one another so that both front and back seat occupants experience the temperature that is best for their individual comfort. Because this system is four-zone, it allows each occupant to experience individualized distribution of heat or cooling settings. When it is extremely hot or cold outside, the system has a solar sensor that is designed to make temperature adjustments automatically. It also includes filtering systems that reduce smog and recirculate the air automatically.
Occupants will also be able to enjoy cold drinks and food from the refrigerator unit that is installed in the console in the back seat. While not standard equipment, there is no charge for this additional option. Champagne flutes are also standard equipment on all Maybach models while retractable folding tables are optional equipment that can be concealed in between the seats in the rear of the vehicle when they are not needed. Another piece of standard equipment on this model is a button to automatically close each rear door. An umbrella mounted on the truck can serve as a rain or sun umbrella and is also standard on all models.
