Porsche in itself is a brand that everyone associates with fast, luxurious cars - but that has never been truer than in the case of the Porsche Turbo, one of the fastest and at the same time most impressive cars that the automotive market has ever seen.

The car is light, has a much more aero-dynamic shape than the earlier models – it has been built to improve on all the features that they had and, of course, to impress its drivers even more, despite very few people believing that was possible.

The model can be compared to Aston Martin cars, but also to the Z06 Chevrolet Corvette or the F430 Ferrari. Some will even compare the Porsche Turbo with the Lamborghini Gallardo.

When launched, the 2007 Turbo was one of the fastest and strongest car models on the market, reaching the 60 mph limit in an amazing 3.7 seconds time frame. With a six-speed gearbox and a 6800 rpm redline, the car offers the driver complete control over how it is driven and over how it flows on the road. The Porsche's Tiptronic capabilities expand way over previous Porsche models, but also over cars of the same class launched around the same time.

Compared to the Carrera, the Turbo can generate up to 65 more horsepower, but also an additional 45 pound-feet of torque, even if the displacement is identical. This also translates into much better gas consumption efficiency, proved by the fact that the 2008 Turbo is the first Porsche model for which the American gas-guzzler tax does not apply. Other improvements include a great traction-control system which makes sure that the reaction to slipping tires is considerably faster.

Since the Porsche Turbo is also 11 pounds lighter than the Carrera, it immediately qualified as the best car Porsche had launched up to that moment - definitely something worth checking out.
